It's no secret. The best way to impress at an interview is to arrive prepared.
- The default dress code for any interview is 'smart'. Even if the job you're applying for involves months on a muddy building site.
- Spend time researching the organisation: look at the website, read the last annual report, and quiz anyone you know who has worked there. Use this information to identify a few questions you can ask the interviewer yourself, to demonstrate your interest.
- Read through your CV and application letter before the interview, to remind yourself of any key points you want to get across.
- Some questions always come up in interviews, so get your answers ready: Why do you want this job? Where does it fit in your career plans? And of course that old chestnut, 'What are your strengths and weaknesses?'
