I'm Laura, my job is recruiting for permanent roles, and this is a breakdown of my typical day.
7.30am – arrive at the office
I fire up the computer and grab a bowl of cereal for breakfast while last night's emails download. I'll be checking through the mail and following up on responses to our advertising until the team meeting.
10.00am – morning team meeting
Our team leader asks for a quick summary of the roles we're still recruiting for and we discuss strategies and any contacts that might be useful.
10.20am – hitting the phones
Back at my desk I make any adjustments to my call priority list as a result of the meeting. Then it's straight on the phone for a mix of business development and sales follow-up calls.
1.00pm - lunch
After a quick trip to the local supermarket for lunch I head back to the office and catch up with friends in other teams, or I might just have a quick sandwich at my desk and then it's back to work.
2.00pm – candidate calls and resourcing
I call candidates to update them on their job applications or sound them out on new roles I am resourcing for. My aim is to build a shortlist of CVs for every role ahead of my client's expectations. If the technical requirements are extremely detailed that can be quite a challenge! I'll also write adverts for any new positions that clients ring through.
5.30pm – make a priority list
Once my priority list is ready for the next day I upload adverts to our website, so they're online and available for people to search through when they get home from work themselves.
6.00pm – head for home
There's usually quite a buzz at the end of the day, so the chances are quite high that my route home will be via the pub!
