1970s
We opened for business in 1972, with David Hurlock at the helm and a small office in West Drayton as our home. Our original purpose was to recruit engineering personnel for the many and diverse engineering companies in and around Middlesex. As the demand for skilled people grew, so did we.
1980s
With our knowledge, experience and rapidly growing contact list, we were soon serving a much larger client base and filling a broader range of professional, technical and general labouring positions. John White, who had joined the company in 1979, led a management buy-out during the 1980s and changed our name to Shorterm Group.
1990s
In 1999 John White sold the whole shebang to 3i and Jim Clarke was brought in as Chief Executive. We opened more strategically located offices to improve our UK coverage.
2000s
Our Specialist Consultants now recruit for the broadest range of construction, engineering, rail, commercial & industrial environments. Our client list ranges from small, start-up businesses to industry-leading multinationals. And we are consistently ranked among the top recruitment companies in the UK by Recruitment International. With our revenue and profits riding high, the business was sold by 3i to Saints Capital Chamonix LP in August 2006.
Perfectly Placed
Today, we have a reinvigorated leadership team, a clear strategy, the right vision and values and a shareholder with money to invest in growing our core competencies. This leaves us perfectly placed to be the service provider of choice for companies requiring technical support staff and specialist recruitment services in the UK and beyond. In addition to a focus on our traditional areas of expertise, we have also recently set up a permanent division for professional placements and a tailored projects division to undertake fixed price contracts for the rail industry.
