Location
Our rail division is located at the heart of the country, in offices based at Derby which is recognised as the “Rail capital” of the country. Our offices provide the rail division with an ideal working environment in which to serve their Clients, enabling consultants to offer a personal service. We provide coverage throughout the UK, although our central location means that we can react quickly to fill the staffing needs of major manufacturing sites in the local area.
Bridging the Skill Shortage
The UK skills shortage for qualified engineers has been well documented, Shorterm are at the forefront of supply of this skilled labour and proactively engage in updating their live database at every opportunity.
The latest initiative comes in the form of a newly launched website which offers an extensive range of candidate services, including a membership scheme which enables our engineers to update their details on-line and for Shorterm to update members with the latest news and opportunities.

We require all appropriate certificates in advance, whether it is for work on Safety Critical (track safety), entry permits for London Underground work, or track awareness for track maintenance work such as the Docklands Light Railway. Key issues we concentrate on are medicals and Drugs & Alcohol screening, where all candidates attend a medical centre, as well as checks on eligibility to work in the UK.
